After World War II, Yukio Yamai returned to his hometown and found solace in climbing Mt. Tanigawa, renowned for its challenging and rugged terrain. Each ascent became a source of strength and renewal, as he embraced the raw beauty of the natural world.

Frustrated by the limitations of the climbing gear available at the time, he set out to create his own tools, determined to enhance the outdoor experience. This passion led to the founding of Snow Peak in 1958. His innovative designs quickly gained recognition, paving the way for the brand’s journey to becoming a global leader in outdoor lifestyle and gear.

“We link our lives together by a single rope, and it gives us such a beautiful sense of trust in each other. It is such a pure thing. If we could capture the feeling and harness it for the good of society, certainly everything bad or evil would fall away.” - Yukio Yamai

A Family-Led Evolution

In 1980, Yukio’s son, Tohru, became CEO and expanded Snow Peak’s offerings with innovations like the Amenity Dome tent and Takibi Fire & Grill. Inspired by his own love for camping, Tohru saw the outdoors as a source of rejuvenation and a way to heal disconnection from modern life.

During the mid-1990s, Snow Peak faced declining sales. A suggestion to host a customer-focused camping event led to the creation of Snow Peak Way, fostering a community of outdoor enthusiasts and transforming the company’s trajectory. Customer insights from these events shaped a more user-centric approach to the brand.

In 2014, Tohru’s daughter Lisa joined Snow Peak, merging her passions for the outdoors and fashion by launching Snow Peak Apparel. Her designs seamlessly transition between urban and natural environments, continuing the brand’s tradition of innovation and connection with nature.

Snow Peak’s Autumn Winter 2024 Collection

The Snow Peak Autumn Winter 24 collection captures the austere beauty of the winter season, showcasing the collection’s harmony with nature. Layering possibilities are highlighted in the lookbook, offering unique combinations of styles and materials that inspire versatility and creativity in outdoor wear.

The Collection stays true to the brand’s "home to camp" ethos, merging functionality with forward-looking style. The collection emphasises useful details such as large cargo pockets, adjustable hoods, and internal storage options for accessories. Wearers can expect the warmth and comfort essential for the colder season, paired with the timeless aesthetic of Japanese design.

The AW24 colour palette leans into the soft hues of the season, offering sage greens, subtle blues, blacks, and greys, punctuated by vivid cobalt blue and bright orange—inspired by the striking colours of winter sunsets.

This season’s collection revisits familiar technical fabrics such as Flexible Insulated, FR 2L Down, and Takibi Ripstop, while introducing new materials like Double Face Fleece, Hybrid Wool, and Lightweight Down. The focus expands to include more wide-leg styles, additional outerwear, and a fresh line of vegan suede accessories.
